Abstract Preparation
Format:- Abstracts should be 300-400 words. A sample abstract can be found here.
- Title should be brief and clearly state content.
- Presenting author must list name first.
- List name and status only, e.g., M3, MD, DO, for each author.
- A faculty co-author is required.
- Use this form when submitting an electronic copy of the abstract.
- Purpose of study (one sentence if possible)
- Simple statement of methods
- Summary of results (adequate to support conclusions)
- Statement of conclusions (Do not use phrases such as "The results will be discussed.")
- This format may be modified, as appropriate, for Clinical Vignette submissions or for Research submissions diverging from the standard research methods
- No diagrams or tables in the abstract
- No references in the abstract
Generic names of drugs are preferred: a proprietary name may be given only with the first use of the generic name. Units of measurement should be metric (SI), including those for height of length, mass (weight), and body temperature. Measurements: for substances of known, pure composition, millimoles/milliliter or millimoles/liter; for mixtures of substances where exact composition is not known, grams/liter.
