Mission Statement - Committment to Graduate Medical Education

The University of Illinois College of Medicine is committed to "... enhance the health of the citizens of Illinois through: Education of physicians and biomedical scientists; the advancement of our understanding and knowledge of health and disease; and provision of health care in the setting of education and research..."

To achieve this mission, the College is dedicated to achieving excellence in the science, art and practice of medicine through teaching, research, patient care, and public service.

Graduate Medical Education is fundamental to the mission of the College.  The challenge of the College of Medicine is to develop the ethic of lifelong learning through the continuum of education.  To accomplish this, the College must maintain an appropriate environmental infrastructure, acknowledge and demonstrate its institutional commitment to the education continuum.

The College of Medicine at Urbana-Champaign, the administration of the College, and the leadership of the major affiliated clinical institutions of the College of Medicine are committed to providing the necessary educational, financial and human resources to support the Graduate Medical Education Program.
