The Office of Academic Affairs supports the academic mission of the College of Medicine in Urbana and is currently in transition, under the leadership of the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
The Office is responsible for the development and implementation of a four-year medical program serving the students engaged either in the traditional path, or the Medical Scholars Program. In addition, the Office oversees the evaluation and continuous improvement of the courses and clerkships in the curriculum.
The Office works in partnership with the Office of Student Affairs to ensure student success. We also partner with the faculty to support their active engagement in the committees for the management of the curriculum. An important goal is ensuring that the curriculum is educationally equivalent at the four sites of the College (Urbana, Peoria, Rockford, Chicago).
The role of the Office will be expanding. Opportunities for research and clinical faculty to hone their educator skills are being developed. A new initiative to involve current students in the improvement of their own education and that of future students is under way.
