INTERNAL MEDICINE RESIDENCY PROGRAM

AY2009 RESIDENT PHYSICIAN BENEFIT PACKAGE

Resident Education Allowance: $1500 per academic year for residency education-related purchases. Allowable purchases include medical text books; medical computer software; on-line medical courses; conference registration, meals and travel (Section 15.1 - Travel Regulations); board review books and/or registration, a stethoscope; an ophthalmoscope and an otoscope and education equipment under $500.00. This may include one laptop or desktop computer during residency. Education equipment over $500.00 may be reimbursed up to $499.99. All reimbursements require presentation of original purchase receipt(s) and method of payment.*

Intern Education Allowance: $300 during intern year for hand-held personal computer or personal digital assistant (PDA) for education-related purposes upon presentation of original purchase receipt and method of payment.* (December 1st of contract year)

Conference Presentation Allowance: Residents confirmed in writing as speakers and/or presenters at national meetings are allowed a total up to $1000 reimbursement for university allowed expenses, i.e. conference registration, meals and travel (Section 15.1 - Travel Regulations) upon presentation of original purchase receipt and method of payment.*
ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) provider and recertification courses and Basic Life Support (BLS)
ACP Membership: Fees for American College of Physicians annual membership

Dependent Health Care: $1500 per academic year. Paid bi-annually with physical proof of expense

Parking: Free, convenient parking at all training sites, i.e. Carle, Provena, Christie, VAIHCS

Faculty Appointment: Visiting Clinical Associate, University of Illinois. Those residents who have successfully completed 3 years of residency training qualify for Visiting Clinical Instructor appointment.

Insurance: Medical Liability while acting in performance of duties. Residents have access to Health, Dental, Disability, and Life insurance, with some direct expense.

Laboratory Coats: 2 coats per academic year when purchased acceptably

Meals: Free meals at residency sponsored conferences, including weekly Thursday conferences at training sites, i.e. Carle, Provena, VAIHCS

On-Call Quarters
Spousal Tuition: $1500 per academic year at accredited USA universities/colleges only
Vacation: 25 days of paid leave for vacation, interview, and illnesses per contract year
