GOALS/OBJECTIVES
- Introduce students to the clinical environment.
- Emphasize the relevance of basic science to clinical medicine
- Initiate the understanding of themselves as physicians
- Provide opportunities for collaborative learning
- Introduce the concepts of life long teaching & learning
- Demonstrate enthusiasm for clinical medicine
- The M1 student will develop a strategy for approaching a clinical scenario and identifying related basic science learning needs
- The M1 student will identify and understand important basic science concepts pertinent to clinical cases
- The M1 student will recognize and be able to define clinical vocabulary pertinent to clinical cases
- The M1 student will recognize the standard history and physical examination format, and will be introduced to clinical reasoning.
- The M1 student will be introduced to and employ the concepts of life-long teaching & learning
- a. The student will investigate a clinical topic within a case
- b. The student will demonstrate the ability to share and discuss case-based basic science and
- clinical information accurately and clearly in a small group setting
