The University of Illinois College of Medicine M1 curriculum focuses on the basic structures and processes of human life. Courses in this first basic science year integrate didactic lectures, team-based learning, small-group activities and laboratory experiences to provide an understanding from the molecular level through more complex structures and pathways of the fundamental elements that constitute health.

The College of Medicine at Urbana-Champaign aspires to be recognized as a leader in medical education and research, scholarship, and public engagement in the University of Illinois system, in the state, in the nation, and around the world.
