Meeting Minutes

February 7, 2002

UMSG MEETING ON 2-7-02

Due to exam schedules Parents day has been changed to April 28th and The Variety show will take place on April 27th.

Library Committee meets once a year in April, Astrid will be our student representative, she needs to know if there is any concerns you want to have address, ie library hours, temperature, etc. please let her know aherard@illinois.edu

Chris reported on

Brown Bag Speaker Series:

	Feb 18th AMSA
	Feb SNMA
	March available

Formal

	Application to SORF completed, application is limited to specific items
	seeking reinbursment for the DJ and decorations
	Jessy inquiring about bringing SORF coke products to formal, will keep updated

Spring Merchandise

	Needs to take place before parents day due to date changes. Profits are needed for formal.
	Adrian Cordovi is coordinating sale at COM
	Chris is awaiting approval from Dr Kirby in order to sell at Carle
	Possible dates of sale at Carle will be during Spring break, Chris will be in charge.
	Adrian and Chris need to establish contact for sale arrangements.

Found out about special account at treasurer's meeting. We might be able to use the $400 in it, will keep updated.

Auction: March 4th

Chair of committee: Victor

	received budget from Chris.
	will be speaking to Ted Bailey
	will be requesting items for auction and getting M1's involved as well as faculty

Memorial Service Committee representative Winnie Kwan reported:

	Service is planned for May 9th
	Requested funds for rental of Piano, purchase of candles wine and cheese.
	Budget for items is tentative, will keep updated.

Awards Preparation

Tim Meehan reported:

	will be e-mailing the class about the Humanism and Golden Apple Awards
	he will take nominations, keep tuned for more information
	the Golden Apple Award is an official part of the Honor's day Program in Chicago
	thinking about giving Golden Flame award to an Outstanding TA, possibly at the end of the year picnic.

Variety Show April 27th

Chair of committee: Erika Walker reported:

	Attempting to have copy of last year's variety show video at library for everyone to watch.
	Adrian Cordovi will be making the programs
	Tentative Location: Animal Science Building
	Will begin soliciting participants in a couple of weeks, will keep updated.

Peoria Transition Committee

Aziz Ahmed, Rupali Chadha, Giselle Tan, Salini Naidu

	Giselle and Aziz reported: email to Peoria went out
	Have received names of host and hostesses
	Will attempt to arrange for trip after the midterms
	COM will be providing two 12 passanger vehicles

Rockford Transition Committee

Tim Meehan, Jeehan Kim, Amanda Pillers, Korrin Ryterski

	Tim and Jeehan reported:
	Tentative date for trip March 8th will
	Requesting arrangement for continental breakfast from COM-Rockford.
	COM will be providing transportation, people can opt to drive

Educational Policy Committee

	What do you think about the mandatory meetings with the advisors?
	Would you like to see changes on the current advisor policy?
