Analysis of learning needs

  • Determine knowledge, skills, attitudes required
  • Identify ability to teach these


  • Determine learning objectives, teaching strategies, evaluation methods
  • Identify supporting media, methods, and people


  • Draft teaching materials, process
  • Conduct pre-trial and/or consult others for input


  • Conduct learning intervention (i.e. class, mentoring, procedure log, portfolios, etc)


  • Decide if learning objective has been met (learner level)
  • Determine program's impact (organizational level)
  • Identify necessary changes for continuous improvement
