Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the application deadline?
A: For full consideration, please apply by November 15th.
Q: Do you require a candidate to be Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certified at the time of application?
A: No, an applicant does not need to be ECFMG certified at the time of the application or interview. We require ECFMG certification by February 1st of each recruiting year (Please note, however, that the NRMP will not allow an applicant to be ranked without an ECFMG Certificate).
Q: Do you require specific USMLE scores?
A: All applicants must have passed United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1, and Step 2 CS and CK to be licensed in the state of Illinois. Preference for interviews is given to applicants who have passed all USMLE exams on the first attempt.
Q: If I match, when will my training start?
A: Exact start dates vary, but all appointees must report for a mandatory orientation program in the latter part of June and must be able to assume all responsibilities of training by July 1 (including ability to drive to all three training sites).

Q: Does your Program accept International Medical Graduates (IMGs)?
A: Yes, but we will only take IMGs with J-1 Visa.
Q:What is the number of residents in your Program who holds J-1 Visas?
A: One, our Program is a new Program and has received ACGME accreditation in April of 2016 and had our first class in July 2017.
