FCM-2

Clinical Skills Sessions

Facilitated by the FCM-2 Core Faculty, clinical skills in interviewing and physical examination will be taught during these sessions. Such sessions will typically take place on or near the beginning of an organ-system block (as coordinated with the pathophysiology schedule). During these sessions, one or more standardized patients will be present to allow students to practice their examination techniques under the supervision of experienced clinicians.

Student expectations:

  • All sessions are mandatory
  • Review the basics of the pertinent examination prior to the session (use the Bates textbook and other online resources)
  • Wear your White Coat on these days
  • Bring your examination equipment to the sessions
  • Team up with your colleagues to practice your skills outside of the classroom setting

Resources
  • Bates Guide to Physical Examination and History-Taking, 11th Edition by Lynn Bickley, MD, LWW
