URBANA ATLAS OF PATHOLOGY

Image Number 29 - Pancreas, calcification

This slide shows chronic pancreatitis. It is an interesting example of calcifications which are seen histologically as large acellular pink masses. Three large calcifications are seen here in the ducts. Calcifications in the pancreas imply chronic irritation and are most often associated with alcoholism.
