URBANA ATLAS OF PATHOLOGY

Image Number 47 - Lung, hyaline membrane disease (II), respiratory distress

See Image 46 for a discussion of hyaline membrane disease. This is an excellent example of a hyaline membrane, lining the epithelial surface of an alveolus. The membrane is most clearly seen in the upper left hand corner of the alveolus. Notice also the hypercellularity of the interstitium around the alveolus.
