Image Number 64 - Unspecified organ, candida septicemia

Candida is a fungus. It is seen in this slide as the many long eosinophilic pseudo-hyphae that are especially crowded together to form a mycelium, in the right half of the slide. Candida can be seen in two forms-the yeast form and the pseudo-hyphae form. Pseudo-hyphae are aggregations of elongated yeast forms and are not true hyphae.
