Adenoma, parathyroid (oxyphil cells)

The oxyphil cells are the lighter staining cells. Some of these are indicated by arrow 1. Arrow 2 indicates the darker staining chief cells. Arrow 3 indicates a blood vessel. At this magnification, nothing pathological can be discerned. The oxyphil cells are the predominant cell type in this type of adenoma. The oxyphil cells are often called oncocytes. This is a rare tumor.
