tubular adenoma

Cortical tubular adenoma is a benign neoplasm of the tubular system of the kidney. It is characterized grossly by masses up to 3 cm in diameter. Microscopically, the typical presentation is cords of cuboidal cells that mimic the tubular system of the kidney. Some authors believe this adenoma to be a precancerous lesion because of its similarity in appearance to the more ominous clear cell carcinoma of the kidney.
