This is the typical picture of an exudative pneumonia. There is a large clump of exudate in the alveolus&127;. Strep. pneumo often causes lobar pneumonia which presents as a febrile illness, with productive cough and purulent sputum. Bacteria are not clearly seen in this particular specimen.
