MSP Application
Application for Admission to the
Graduate College and MSP Program

Thank you for your interest in the Medical Scholars Program (MSP) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The MSP is committed to preparing a diverse cadre of physician-scholars to confront the multidimensional problems and issues that face medicine. The complex nature of these problems requires people trained in a broad array of graduate disciplines working together in order to develop innovative solutions. The MSP has approximately 150 MD/PhD, MD/MBA, and MD/JD students pursuing graduate study in over 30 academic disciplines, including the behavioral sciences, humanities and physical sciences, as well as the biomedical sciences. With such diverse student perspectives, the MSP provides a unique and electric environment for bright and creative scholars to pursue their passion for combining cutting edge research with individualized, high-quality clinical training.

PLEASE READ THROUGH THIS IMPORTANT INFORMATION.
For the Fall 2014 application season:

  • Only U.S. citizens or permanent resident aliens are eligible for admission to the Medical Scholars Program.
  • Use this Online Application for all MSP programs: MD/PhD, MD/JD, and MD/MBA. You must submit the MSP online application along with your official transcripts, three (3) letters of recommendation, and a copy of your personal printout of your MCAT scores (if the latest scores are not reflected on your AMCAS application) by Wednesday, December 31, 2014. You must also submit a copy of your personal printout of your LSAT, GMAT and/or GRE scores, if applicable. Letters should be submitted through AMCAS to the University of Illinois College of Medicine Office of Medical Student Admissions in Chicago. Additionally, if you feel that the letters of recommendation you submitted through AMCAS do not sufficiently cover your research interests and experiences or other aspects of your MSP application, please have separate letters of recommendation directly sent to the Medical Scholars Program by the application deadline.
  • You must apply to the University of Illinois College of Medicine (code #128) via AMCAS by Wednesday, December 31, 2014. The University of Illinois College of Medicine Office of Medical Student Admissions should then email you a link to complete their supplemental application. This supplemental application is due by Saturday, January 31, 2015. If you do not receive an invitation to complete their supplemental application, please contact the MSP Coordinator.
  • Please make sure you meet the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago pre-requisites. If you have any questions regarding the pre-requisites, please contact the MSP Office immediately.
  • Your application to the Medical Scholars Program will also serve as your graduate department application. You do not need to fill out a separate application unless you are applying to the MD/JD or MD/MBA programs.
  • MD/JD and MD/MBA applicants should contact these programs directly to obtain more information on their particular application processes. MBA applicants should complete and submit an MBA application and contact the MBA Program Admissions Coordinator to request an application fee waiver. Law applicants should complete and submit a separate application to the law school.
